Join us for this idyllic Mediterranean adventure, learning to sea kayak at the same time as applying your new skills to tour this wild and rugged coastline in these sleek vessels, paddling over the turquoise sea, wild camping on remote islands and sleeping under the stars on beautiful beaches. Making your own fishing tackle from natural material, from hooks, harpoons and Hawaiian slings, and then snorkelling and diving through aquamarine water to catch your supper. Our guide Alex has been on many of our courses in the UK and has expanded upon and refined his skills to be come an expert in his native environment, we are really looking forward to working with him and learning from him.

 

Throughout you will be learning essential skills, from navigation as sea to wilderness fishing skills, where you will be cooking your catch each night on the open fire. We will visit some incredible sites of local and historical interest, from paddling over ancient sunken cities beneath the crystal clear waters, to cruising past medieval fortresses. You will learn about the history and lore of this ancient land, from it’s myths and legends to it’s more recent past. You will also learn about the local fauna and flora, from the edible and medicinal properties of the plants to the tracks we find in the sand.

We assume no previous knowledge or skills, so this trip is suitable for complete beginners and novice paddlers who want to learn how to sea kayak and become confident enough to plan their own expeditions. You will learn about packing, menus and route planning. This trip is like a warm weather version of our Scottish Coastal Forager, with the addition of kayaks 🙂

  • Cooking and eating equipment
  • Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and refreshments are all provided by us
  • We also take waterproof cameras, including a GoPro to capture the trip and will send the photos to you at a later date
