Joe is fascinated with everything bushcraft. He started training with Woodsmoke six years ago and has been Ben’s apprentice for three years, he is on track to receive his hazel handled instructors knife this year! During this time Joe’s enthusiasm for the subject is evident to everyone he meets. He enjoys teaching and getting everyone involved. Reading and acquiring knowledge has been a huge part of Joe’s bushcraft journey. Through fascination he has gained a deep knowledge and understanding of fungi, has a constantly expanding knowledge of plants and immerses himself tracking wildlife.
Joe is a skilled craftsman having worked with wood by trade for many years. He is a proud dad and enjoys sharing his love of the woods with his family – getting out exploring at every opportunity.
For the last two years Joe has assisted on Borneo expeditions and his hard work and love of the jungle environment has gained him good friends amongst the Penan people. He is a great cook and relishes the challenge of conjuring up a feast whether in a jungle ‘kitchen’ or in the woods of the Lake District.
